Fredericksburg Fly Fishers Celebrate 14th Annual Oktoberfisch
Celebrating its 14th year, the Fredericksburg Fly Fishers will again be hosting Oktoberfisch in Junction, Texas over the weekend of July 20-22, 2017. As a Chapter of the Fly Fishers International, the Fredericksburg Fly Fishers, the club is composed of over eighty members who are dedicated to a mission of education, conservation, and fellowship.
This year promises to be the best Oktoberfisch ever, on the banks of the South Llano River. The weather will be ideal, and the company will be great. A number of loyal returning fans come for the fly fishing, others the entomology and students of the sport enjoy fly tying and casting clinics by master instructors from those disciplines, brought in from throughout the State and beyond. The classes are geared to each level of expertise, so one will be perfect for you.
Other opportunities include the experience of one hour of instruction by a local guide, live music and outdoor cooking on Saturday night kayak fishing instruction, porterage for you kayaks, and the after hour fly fishing movies are exceptional. This largest fundraising event for the Fredericksburg Fly Fishers includes exceptional fly fishing merchandise at the silent auction and raffle. The funds generated provide significant contributions for worthy causes such as Reel Recovery (for men who are dealing with cancer), Casting for Recovery (for women dealing with cancer), programs for the Wounded Warriors, as well as ongoing assistance and support for the Llano River Watershed Alliance.
The folks at Oktoberfisch invite you to join us in Junction, where they roll out the red carpet for this event each year. Held at the South Llano RV Park, you can join the festivities and have an opportunity to learn more about fly fishing, and its benefits. Learn about the club’s private fishing access program on private land with club stocked trout on local streams. Find out about the club’s exciting upcoming events and outings. The International Fly Fishing Film Festival is a must, much like the Annual Fish Fry. In the past, outings have included the iconic San Juan River, home of giant browns and rainbows.
